Shadow Dial
The Shadow Dial's purpose is to revive the idea of a sun dial. Sun dial has become obsolete and not of practical use anymore. It is a serves a aesthic purpose more than a functional purpose. The Sun Dial uses light and shadows to tell time, and so does this concept of a digital clock. It uses the concept of shadow created from light to represent the numbers in digital form. The three sketches, shows the dial on display, it's form, and how it might look like as a stationary.
Light Canvas
This design was inspired by the video on collages as an art form. I wanted at first explore the concept of building a collage out of light. The design here focuses on the ability to move the pieces and ability to alter the pieces that is associated with collages. The light canvas is the ability to move pieces of light fixture as you choose and program it to reflect the types of color that you want to mix. This concept I think breaks down the boundaries imposed by light mixing and is a new take on light art.
Responsive Shoe
A responsive shoe in the context of light is the ability to respond to the enviorment. It uses light both as an input and an output. This requires the shoe to know the enviorment and adjust itself to it. It knows the enviorment base on the light or color of the light that is coming into the shoe. It then adjusts itself approriately to match that enviorment. It should also allow the user to adjust the color of their shoe however they like too.
LIGHT SHELEVES++
The concept that is explored here is the idea of light being a barrier. Like a stoplight, there is not any physical barrier in stopping cars, yet people stop (due to some normative barrier imposed by law) due to the idea of it being a barrier. With a book shelves, usually there are verticals, that act as a barrier. Here, in this concept, it is replaced by light, different adjustable light both in terms of position and color. The concept attacks the theme of space with light.
STUDIO ++
I wanted to explore a way to minimalize the need for additional lights in a studio apartment. In a small studio apartment, you would really need only one strong light source if your goal is to light up the room. However, where we light up the room is important as well depending on what the user is doing. The user needs different light fixtures at different places to address this issue. You have a living room light, a kitchen light, and bed light etc. The idea with the concept is what if we had a light that can seperate the space for us and direct the light at a direction that is needed to control the space. The design here focuses on the ability to move the light and aim it similiar to a stage light to solve this issue. You would only need one light for your studio apartment as a result.
