Project Name: FAB++
Event: Taipei Airforce Hackathon
Year: 2016

Fabrication anywhere, 3 Days, 1 Idea

Product: FAB++ is a mobile fabrication center for the taipei airforce innovation zone. Part of the hackathon is to design urban products that would and could be implemented to enhance the city of taipei and the airforce zone. Our product focused on bringing fabrication everywhere. Fab Labs is an idea that we can make digital fabrication workspaces accessible for everyone. It was an idea born out of the MIT media lab. Our idea puts a spin on this idea. We wanted to design a space that builds fab lab centers and ship it anywhere in the world, urban, suburban or remote. These fabrication center would be built out of shipping containers and easily shipped to any place in the world, or put in any city corner so that anyone can use it. It was a fabrication lab in itself, and a fabrication of fabrication labs, pretty meta.

My Contribution:
I was responsible for leading a team of 4 members consist of designers, business analyst,and engineers in designing FAB++ and building a model of our idea. We started off the hackathon by brainstorming various ideas, distiling it down to one idea, and then designing the prototype. The model was built overnight with laser cutted and 3D printed parts. The business plan and pitch was development in conjunection.
